Platform Choices
When ordering hosting services, you can choose either Windows
Server or Unix as the platform on which your site will be hosted. In many cases,
the choice isn't important. Sometimes, however, your specific needs will
determine which platform to choose.
Remember that the platform of the server hosting your website is not related
to the operating system of your personal computer.
When to choose Windows Server

Korax uses Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Web Edition as its Windows hosting
platform. You should select Windows Server if any of the following applies to
your website:
- Your website has scripts or applications that use ASP or ASP.NET
- Your website uses Access databases to store information
- You want to use COM components in ASP scripts
When to choose Unix

Korax uses FreeBSD as its Unix hosting platform. You should select Unix if any of
the following applies to your website:
- You need access to a Unix shell using SSH
- You want to use secure FTP over SSH (SFTP) to upload files
- You need the features of the Apache web server, such as .htaccess files
- Your website uses CGI scripts
